Bees

Bees are incredibly important to our environment and should always be protected wherever possible. Unlike many pests, they play a vital role in pollination and supporting ecosystems.

At Dalton Pest, our approach to bees is always focused on advice, safety, and preservation not unnecessary treatment.

Why Bees Matter

  • Essential pollinators – supporting plants, crops, and biodiversity

  • Vital for food production – a huge part of the natural food chain

  • Protected and beneficial species – important to preserve

Are Bees A Problem?

In many cases… no.

  • Bee swarms often look alarming but are usually resting temporarily

  • Swarms will often move on naturally within 24–48 hours

  • Bees are generally non-aggressive when swarming

  • They’re often just stopping while scouts find a new home

When Action Maybe Necessary

  • If bees have established a nest inside a property

  • If they pose a direct risk to occupants

  • If access or safety is compromised

Even then, the focus should always be on safe relocation where possible

Key Facts

  • Swarming is a natural process, not an infestation

  • Most swarms move on within a couple of days

  • Bees are far less aggressive when swarming

  • They are critical to the environment and should be protected

What Not To Do

  • Don’t disturb or spray bees

  • Don’t panic most swarms are temporary

  • Don’t attempt removal yourself

  • Don’t block access points if they’re active

How We Deal With It

At Dalton Pest:

  • Provide honest advice on whether action is needed

  • Assess if bees are just passing through or nesting

  • Work with or recommend local beekeepers for safe relocation

  • Only consider further steps where absolutely necessary
